Translated manga is a thriving business these days, especially for online English readers. Small publishers are sprouting up and creating a market on digital-based doujinshi releases and independent comics, while the majority of the larger players' publications are available on multiple digital stores. Subscription services are also being created to put as many of these comics under their umbrellas as possible.
Azuki is one of the latest of these services, and there are several reasons to be excited about it. For starters, it has had access to a large portion of Kodansha's manga catalogue since its first day, as well as a few Kaiten Books publications, adding up to around 170 series. It was also founded and operated by ex-Crunchyroll employees, so we can presume that the folks behind the scenes are not just some long-term manga enthusiasts, but are also knowledgeable and know their way in the industry.
